Good Times

April & I finally got moved into our new apartment this weekend. Its oh so much nicer than the hole we were living in. Got a dishwasher, washer & dryer, good stuff like that. Oh, and no cockroaches. I guess us moving means they won the war. Never say I couldn't concede defeat.

We're still unpacking all of our boxes, but we're gonna take our time.

In other news we watched the Season 5 opener of The Sopranos last night. It was, of course, beautiful. Like an old friend coming back into town who you haven't seen in awhile, and all the great memories of great times you had together come rushing back. Sure he's a little rough around the edges, sure you've forgotten some of the dynamics of your interaction, but hey you're both there ready to learn it all over again. I managed to drag Andy & April there and they both seemed to enjoy it. I'm also trying to angle something with Mesh at The Pulse where we review the previous weeks episode together, a la Slate (except we're not, well, psychiatrists).

In other news, CBC is my new favorite hangout until the Safari Pub is reborn. $4 mini-pitchers of Amber-Bach is a great deal.

Finally, an ad-hominem attack is when you say a particular argument is false because of some sort of assumed impopriety on the part of the person making the argument. It's not an ad-hominem attack if a. you're not arguing with the person b. you agree with their current argument c. you make a personal joke about a previous argument and d. you're not even specifically talking to that person.

It's as if I accused Mesh of an ad-hominem attack if he cracked a joke to Andy about me back in my theonomist days being inconsistent & breaking contact when I'm currently arguing for school vouchers or something like that (just an example, I know nothing about the school voucher debate). It's just all, well, unrelated.

Hey josiah, got any room for one more at the new pad? Mom and Dad are driving me crazy! oh and in short an ad hominem is a fallacy of argument that occurs when you attck the person themselves and not the isue at hand. just thought I'd let ya know!;)
