Janet, Justin, & Nudity
It's been my contention for many years now that there is a categorical difference between male & female nudity, and I'm not sure I'm alone in this position. I think that the subsequent outrage/disgust in response to the recent super-bowl boob-flashing is indicative of at least one half of my position.
Which is:
I think that female nudity, for whatever culturally contextualized reason, is something viewed as beautiful/erotic/powerful and in some sense is to be feared. I'm not saying this is some type of objective truth, but for whatever reasons is the case in contemporary America.
I think male nudity on the other hand is nearly always, well, funny. Think about it. In most situations in our lives if a naked guy happened to sprint through the scene it would be instantaneous humor. Who hasn't laughed at that Nike or Adidas commercial with the naked guy running around the soccer field with security hot on his heels? That's dang funny stuff!
I'm not sure why this is the case.

yeah, I see your point, but I'm not sure everyone would agree with you. I haven't confirmed this anywhere, but I think male full frontal nudity in movies usually gets past an R-rating (or would if the movies with it were rated), while female full frontal nudity isn't as bad. But then there's the old Greek and Roman art where male nudity is normal and total female nudity is rarely seen.

Dude, a naked guy did sprint onto the field after halftime, and it was funny! Right after the halftime debacle, as the Panthers were getting ready to kick off, a guy named Mark Roberts ran onto the field in a tear-away refaree's uniform, then yanked it off to reveal only a silver thong. "Roberts performed an Irish Jig in front of Carolina kicker John Kasay and was trying to elude security officials when New England Patriots linebacker Matt Chatham flattened him with an elbow. Roberts was carried off the field hogtied by security." The CBS cameras did not show this, which I think we can all agree is a pity. Even Linnea.

I heard bookies were taking 750:1 odds on a streaker. Somebody got rich, that's for sure.

The streaker was a rather well known British soccer hooligan, who's streaked practically every major sporting event, including Wimbledon, and who tried to streak last year's Superbowl but couldn't get tickets. ESPN even did a story on him early last year. He's so notorious that he's made to surrender his passport anytime one British soccer team takes a road trip abroad.
BTW, as for male vs. female nudity, in films, they can't show full frontal male nudity without getting NC-17, but full frontal female nudity will get an R.

Maybe the MPAA doesn't have a sense of humor.

People absolutely amaze me when it comes to arguments about male vs.female nudity. They, meaning(women)intentionally exclude the fact that on male frontal nudity you see everything....on female frontal nudity, usually all you see is pubic hair. This very simple fact is excluded to quickly "justify" ones personal agenda. That agenda being what i call "redemptive nudity" for the satisfaction of female viewers. Therefore, some women feel that uneasiness, which is actually insecurities/supposed insecurities "created" by seeing other nude females in movies etc.will be remedied by turnaround male nudity. In reality, the male nudity, at its highest offering will serve only a superficially shallow purpose, because men and women are wired differently.Physically, biologically, men and women are different and our genders respond according to our respective genetic/sexual set-points.Case and point...male consumers are much more likely to spend money on viewing female nudity,in strip clubs, movies, adult book stores, etc. One of the female posts'on this page commented that male frontal nudity is labeled nc-17,while female frontal nudity is labeled R.Show a woman reclined back, legs open so that her pussy lips and clitoris are visible....would this not be the true "visually exposed"equivalant to full frontal male nudity?Of course it is...and it would probably recieve an nc-17 rating also.
