Odd Morning
It's been an odd morning. I woke up feeling a bit sick. I'd like to thank Andy Montgomery for giving me a cold. Yes, we've been kissing. On numerous occasions. Jealous?
Also today April completely flip-flopped my morning routine. She always, always gets up before me to hop in the shower. I like this routine; I get to sneak an extra 15 minutes of sleep with the whole bed to myself. Yes, I'm greedy and I like routine. Today when the alarm went off she asked me to getup and take a shower first.
This started a domino effect: it takes me about 7 minutes total to get ready and if I get up last I usually finish up right when it's time to leave. Time efficiency. Today I found myself with 20 minutes to spare while April got ready. I popped in The West Wing first season DVD and it left me in a rather political, liberal mood.
Then I dropped April off and, for the second day in a row, quickly cruised over to Greyfriars for an everything bagel with cream cheese, a mocha grande, and the New York Times. Boy, Chattanooga has a bucha yuppies. It's as if all of First Pres. turns out at Greyfriars each morning around 8 a.m.
Then I read in the NYT's that the head of the BBC resigned when Lord Hutton's report determined that Tony Blair did not lie concerning Iraq (which the BBC had more or less asserted). There's even talk of them privatizing the BBC, which would be rather intense and perhaps mark the end of what, is in my opinion, the best dang news source the world has ever seen.
I should quickly note that I saw this person heading in "the big D" as I'm wont to call it.
Back to Coptix. First person in the office. 8 bazillion e-mails to read since Jeff & Joseph work, shall we say, "non-business hours" in the wee hours of the night. In an empty office, with little distractions (like me harassing Jeff for a power drill so I can finish my new desk), their productivity increases by about 150%, but that also means I get a slew of e-mails from them with project updates.
But the finally cap on this less than normal morning is that when I popped my headphones on after I sat down on my desk and then hit "play" on iTunes, the first song played was "Say the Words" by DC Talk. Instead of hitting skip, I took a stroll down Nick Smith nostalgia lane. The second song was "JAM" by The Yellow Monkeys.
I have no explanation for the presence of DC Talk songs on my computer, I do on the other hand have a plausible explanation for quasi-racist Japanese jock rock. As you recall, I lived with one Morris Yaegashi some 3 years. Once I got broadband, Morris took this as a cue to fill up my hard-drive with songs from Japanese bands that he could otherwise not get in the States.
Regardless, the combination of DC Talk & The Yellow Monkeys screaming at me in psuede-Christian speak & japanese-power rhymes has left my brain a bit frazzled. Call it DC Monkeys, or Yellow Monkey Talk. You decide. I need to get to work.
