Sadness
Last night while returning home from an fun filled evening of dinner & thursday night TV with Andy & Jennifer, my faithful truck of 2 years died.
It's been on it's last leg for a couple months now, having nearly 200,000 miles and numerous car wrecks including 3 at the hands of Morris Yaegashi, doing his best to reinforce the stereotype that the Japanese are, in fact, bad drivers.
My request is that my friends out there who read this keep in mind that April & I be needing wheels. We have some money, but we'd like to get something that wont be breaking down all the time so it looks like payments might be necessary. Please e-mail me with any leads you might have. We're hungry to buy!
A funny story about the break-down: April and I were on Broad Street when the car starts gyrating like Holton on the dance floor. It had rhythym, but the rhythym of a dying, gasping animal. I immediately hit the right blinker to make for the nearest parking lot, which unfortunately happens to be the parking lot of the infamous Adult Bookstore on Broad, the bright beacon of first-time Covenant visitors and students. As I'm mindlessly turning into said creepy parkinglot April starts screaming "What are you doing don't pull into the Adult Bookstore parkinglot!!" (of course, you have to add a few expletives in there). I pull an even harder right and just make the cut into the parking lot of the next door tire shop.
Of course, this is still too close to the Adult Bookstore. And we're having to sit there while wierd middle-aged men in rusted utility vans go about their business. So we push the truck to the other side of the tire shop parking lot, effectively creating a "buffer zone" between the Adult Bookstore and our dear dead truck.
We then walked down Broad Street to the KFC, which was closed. So we used their pay phone to call Mesh to come pick us up. I stood on the street and yelled at passing cars. I always wanted to be one of those guys.
I guess what makes this kinda sad is that the truck was a gift from my Dad. I loved that truck. I got attached to it. Not so deep down I can't help but feel this all could have been prevented if I'd had a few grand to drop into engine work. Such is life.

It sucks when your auto goes kaput.
I spent a few thousand bucks making half-a-dozen repairs on an old 1987 Nissan Maxima this year. It has been a constant headache. Cars are terrible. We should have something better by now.
I mean, it's 2004. Where in the hell is my flying car?

As someone who is in the same boat, the local chevy places have a lot of Malibu's and Buick's for under $10k. The little car shop on McFarland Ave in Rossville has a couple of nice cheap cars as well.
We're looking at trading in the 96 Jeep Cherokee soon....

Sorry to hear that bro. I know how you feel. My yota was a gift from my dad too so to speak and i've been driving it for....well....its what i've always been driving. As silly as it may sound i know its kind of a sad, sentimental thing to lose. I can't help much in the way of leads seeing how i'm out here in cali but i'll keep an eye out for you none the less! By the way, it was great seeing you last weekend!
