Rally My Monkey

So before I get to the good things, like the new Return of the King trailer I have for download, I wanted to mention that I've been thinking a bit about the whole "exporting democracy" thing that we're tryin' over in Iraq. Most people think that the US simply tries to export it's obnoxious stuff like, Pepsi, MacDonalds, and Bennifer which breeds hate. I'm not really concerned with that directly. What I do think we should be doing is exporting the great things from our country like the Rally Monkey, SEC & Big 10 football, and indoor plumbing.

I mean, the Iraqi people gotta really be down right now. Consider: for decades they've got a psycho mass-murderer for a leader. Then there's a war to depose that leader which ends up destroying everything from their biggest industry to Al-Haboobo's Fez & Pomegranate shop down the streep. And now thousands of foreign troops are running around telling the Iraqi's when they can or can't cross the street. I mean heck, that's enough to drive anyone to the hooka.

This is why the Rally Monkey is just what they need. The Angel's didn't make the playoffs this year, so our dear Monkey has got some time off. Why not send him to Iraq to bolster the moral of the Iraqi people? Does anyone know how to say "Rally Monkey" in Arabic? Mebbe they could start their own funny-animal cheer-you-up mascot the "Rally Camel."

But onwards. I managed to snag the new Return of the King movie trailer. It's good, dang good, unfortunately it's also dang small. If I find a bigger one, I'll post that.

Mesh, April, and I watched White Oleander last night. It was a solid film. I think the premise and story of the film was great though not as...extensively(?) executed as it could have been. I'm fairly certain this was due to the limitation of the film medium as opposed to the written word; the movie being based on a book and all.

Mesh and I both agreed that the film definately deals with certain issues that were very very feminine in nature so our ability to be affected by the story was somewhat stunted, which is impressive given how dang good the movie was anyway. Michelle Pfiffer was incredible. I didn't know she could act; play a good catwoman yes, act, no. But she was great and one of the most evil, twisted, devious characters I've ever seen on film. Anyways, I'm no film reviewer so hopefully Mesh will put something up that does it more justice than my weenie writing skills can muster.

Tonight April has her women's Bible study with C-stone. That makes me happy. The ladies at Cornerstone are an impressive lot, a real force to be reckoned with. They do more in a week than most prebyteries do all year. I think they've got plans to start a college, publishing house, coffee shop, and finishing school in the next year. I also hear rumors that they're writing a response to Doug Wilson's latest book "A Serrated Edge" and that their conclusion might be something along the lines that Doug Wilson didn't get enough spankings when he was a boy for smarting off. But hey, I could be wrong. I just report the rumors, I don't make them up.

Actually, Michelle Pfeiffer is a force of nature. An acting force. There's this one moment in an otherwise somewhat seedy movie, _Fabulous Baker Boys_, where she stumbles through a stage door into a singing audition--she's broken a heel off her very fetching shoe and there's gum on her lip. She's dressed like a semi-tramp. She starts singing this amazingly vulnerable song, and WOW the mood changes and your jaw drops open.

And she did her own vocal work for that movie. Man oh man.

I think the Iraqis should indeed have their own high school football team. I urge everyone to think of good team names. The Mosul Maulers? The Bahgdad Baathists?

There may be a larger or even different trailer at TheOneRing.net I was just checking but I'm thinking that they're getting hit hardcore. Every time I tried to nav through the site I timed out. I did get to a spot where you could get a 14Mb trailer as opposed to your 9Mb and the title had the word Asian in it. Hopefully we don't have to see all our heroes with dubs disease but who knows. Mom and I were just checking out the trailer you linked to and we were both sitting here with goosebumps. She told me I'm not allowed to move to Chatty until after Dec 17. :-)

Did anyone else pee themselves when they saw the Return of the King trailer? I did... but just a little.

If you go to lordoftherings.net you can download a 25 meg version which is in 480 resolution.

It isn't huge, but its big enough to see most things. . .plus you can widen the screen as much as you want.

And yes, it is an amazing trailer.
