Fear My Dance

Haven't blogged non-Covenant in awhile, so I'd best give y'all an update on the happening's round House Roe.

April quit her job at Walnut Creek Stables. She's now aggressively looking for another job. Do be praying for her. We're down to one income (not that it was much above that before), so things are rather tight. Hopefully something with turn up in the next week or two.

I haven't been blogging all that much (Covenant issues excepted) 'cause I've been busy with work and ridiculously busy for the last 3 days cranking out the new Bagpipe Online website. You can checkout the nearly finished product here, though not until tomorrow morning, because I'm a retard and saved the stylesheet in the main index template window, thankfully we've got backups.

I've been working on the site with Huffine, and its been a good time of re-sparking our old programming union. Of course, he did 99% of what could be called the "programming" part, and I did 99% of the design part, which I'm actually proud of, and owe Dwayne & Ben thanks for the design tips.

The site will eventually be hosted at www.bagpipeonline.com, and Lang just got the server setup for it today. I'm rather excited about it, because it's gonna be independent of the administration's control by two degrees: the actual Bagpipe staff, and then me n' Ben. Admissions folks have been against an online Bagpipe for years, and me and Ben just kinda had the idea to crank it all out in a week. We're nearly finished.

Finally, April n' I have gotten addicted, along with Lang and Charity, to Settlers. The game is addictive, though Lang and I both agree it needs about 1 more degree of complexity to be truly like board-game crack. I found a sweet Java version of the game here.

ah you're in the grasp of settlers now too! I guess that makes you my settlers grandchild. this game spreads like a virus.

I hear the cities and knights expansion is good if you're wanting more complexity. some say they never go back. I've heard mixed reviews about the seafarer's expansion. I havent played either yet. we're wanting to get the 6 player expansion soon.

anybody up for a tournament?

I agree, you are a retard, and also a nerd. I love you though.

Dude. Settlers is one of the most phenomenal games ever. Check out the Seafarers expansion. Starfarers is also pretty awesome. Check out the game manufacturer website there a bunch of games some only in german but can find translations on the web. I''m hoping to move down there w/in the next few months, we'll have to play.

Ya, I love that game. Dang addictive. But it needs more to it though, like, I feel like I've blown through the breadth & width of the variations of the game. I need more more more! I wanna check out those expansions for it.

Don't know if you've tried any variations on the game as yet but some friends and I like to turn all of the land pieces over along with the number discs. land pieces dont' get uncovered until someone has settled on one. So you could end up with all wheat and one ore and other ridiculous things. I don't know if that's a known variation or what. could be in the rule book for all I know. The rules were explained to me and i never read them.

Also check out the cities and knights expansion. Pretty sweet.

give it some time. there's more depth to the basic game than you may realize. come by our place and we'll show you how it's done. michelle's quite a pro.

Definitely get the 6-player expansion. It's a much, much better game that way, even if you play the 6-player rules with only 4 players.
