Coming Full Circle & Prayer
Matty's heading in to his meeting with Dean Raymond over the nudity issue today at 3:30. I think we should pray for him.
I had a good many dealing with Dean Raymond over the years and I consider him a good man and a good friends. He's also somebody caught between a massive rock and a hard place. Imagine being the guy who has to get all the calls from parents about the crazy things we do while at college? I personally am responsible for generating a good many of those phone calls, to which I'm very apologetic.
In other news, last spring a couple of guys at Covenant late one night drove around in a jeep and smashed up a bunchof cars. I guess they found this funny. They were expelled.
Rumor has it they're back, through the efforts of certain influential people. I find this frustrating especially in light of certain other friends being fired from their jobs for far less. I understand that consistency for any authority is nigh impossible, but I felt close to this one given my relationships with the parties involved. More to come as details roll in.
I guess it's all about who you know, and Alyssa just didn't know the right people.

Tim, I had my first blog back in march, then I started giving them out, then me and some friends got together and started putting together these blogging portals.

I agree with you about A. That was incredibly frustrating for me and I wish there was something I could've done...

I didn't know that the two car-crashers ever did get expelled. I thought all the punishment they ever got was being confined to their rooms till the end of the semester. I don't think that it's even in the best interest of the guys in question to let them back--they would be better off at home under parental supervision.
It is weird that they didn't do more to them, especially since it sure seemed like someone was making the decision to crack down on things last year (my guess is that Alyssa had the misfortune of confessing when they were cracking down, because other RAs have gotten away with the same things in the past). The rumor was that one of the car-crashers' dads was going to try to buy people off to get them out of hot water--I guess it worked, which is infuriating because it means that the people with the most connections and power get off scot free (no pun intended).

Yeah, some people may have gotten punished for indescretions that would have been allowed to slip by before, and that certainly doesn't seem right, but what Student Development was doing in their "loving, confess so you get away with murder" approach obviously wasn't working, b/c so many people were out of control. Maybe they could come up with something better than what they have now, but what they have now sure seems to be a whole heck of a lot better than it was before.
