Errata X5

Aiiight. So 2nite me, B-Money, Original Flava Mesh, da Munkee, and some others from the ChattaLAN crew are headin' over to to see Pirates of the Caribbean. Both Mesh and Ben would probably like me to note that they are not part of the ChattaLAN crew, only that we all happen to be going to the movie at the same time. Both Mesh and Ben think video games are lame.

Two song suggestions for you.

The first is "Idiot Boyfriend" by Jimmy Fallon. I know, bizarre. I don't much care for the rest of his comic CD, but I dig the groove on that song, and I know for a fact that for a date Gosey once made a girl a Swansons TV Dinner.

The second is the former Soviet Union national anthem performed by the Russian Army Red Choir. You might remember it as the song sung in The Hunt for Red October by the Russian enlisted men in the Red October submarine when Sean Connery said "Let them sing! Let them Sing!" I wanna figure out how to pump that into Battlefield 1942. Serious @$$ would be handed while listening to that song. Empires falling new ones rising out of the ashes...the glory....the glory...

And if you've made it this far, if any of all y'all have an airconditioner lying around you might want to sell, let me know. April and I desperately need one.

Hey, what is this slander? I've never made a Swanson's chicken dinner for a girl in my life; it's always the steak, buster.

I want to see that movie, too.

While I do think video games are lame, I think pirates are cool. If there were more pirate video games, I might be tempted to play. Raise the mizzenmast, boys. We're going searchin' for burried treasure. Arrrgh.

Speaking of movies that are in the theater...

I just saw this on wired.com. It is on the right side under the "Furthermore" heading.

"Even at six, Leah Lowland knew there was something amiss with the Incredible Hulk doll she won at a seaside fair in England. Noticing a prominent bulge at the front of her prize, Leah did what any curious six-year-old would do: She pantsed him. An lo, there in all its green-felted splendor, she discovered a two-inch male organ -- a willy, as the Brits like to call it. "Considering the doll is only 12 inches tall, it's amazing how big his willy is," said mom Kim. "And it’s definitely not an extra piece of material left on by mistake." Amazed she may have been, but mom is calling for a ban on the Hulk doll, made by a Spanish manufacturer as a tie-in with the new movie."

Just thought that you would enjoy that one.

Actually, the whole Pirates of the Caribbean thing really reminds me of the Monkey Island series of adventure games by Lucasarts. They were really the first ones to come up with the pirate/zombie combo. Anyone else remember Guybrush Threepwood and the evil Pirate Le'Chuck?

My long-standing loathing of undead pirates (yes, even prior to the PA loathing of undead proper) stems backs to the Ghost Pirate LeChuck...ah...those were the gaming days...

say me lads... isn't that movie rated RRRRRRRRGH ???

To complement Ben's post about the Hulk doll, here's something my friend Mark sent me.

How was the movie?

Posted by: gosey at July 10, 2003 08:53 AM

We didn't get to see the movie because the darn thing was sold out when we got there...on a wednesday!

Hey, Josiah! A few things: I prefer that Jimmy Fallon song about basketball. "Jimmy, what'd you say? You can't play basketball."
Also, a rather smallish new 5,000 BTU air conditioner can be obtained for about $100 bucks if you look around. Plenty of cool air for your bedroom at night (and mebbe then some) so that you don't sweat like you're in the devil's headlock.
At the theatre: you might want to check out the film "28 Days". I saw the PAL British DVD about 5 weeks ago and enjoyed it. It's dark, violent, gritty, etc. blah blah blah--but it's not your typical zombie flick. A laboratory-engineered virus is acidentally set loose by animal rights activists and it wreaks havoc on the general populus. Freaky-freaky. Reminds me a bit of "Dawn of the Dead" in places. Some of it does suck; however, it's still an enjoyable film if you like that sort of thing.

Ron, I'm really lookin' forward to 28 Days, it's coming out in a couple days here downtown, and I'm definately gonna see it. I can't believe you know Dawn of the Dead. I had a friend who rented that once and left about 30 minutes into it. We had the extended DVD, so Matt and I ended up staying up till the wee hours of the morning watching it. Gotta say, cool idea, but the movie did kinda suck...

Rye-Diggitty saw "28 Days Later" last night after you and April dropped out. It wasn't bad. Very spooky, and strangely beautiful in places.

Posted by: mesh at July 10, 2003 11:17 AM

Great, now who am I gonna see it with?

Posted by: JosiahQ at July 10, 2003 12:23 PM

I would go again. But first I want to see "Pirates." Shiver me timbers and what have you.

Posted by: mesh at July 10, 2003 01:31 PM

Yeah, I've seen Dawn of the Dead. It's the sequel to Night of the Living Dead. The third in the series is Day of the Dead, which really stinks. I thought matt was making a reference to the Dawn film in his recent article Dawn of the Death of the Mall, because Dawn of the Dead took place in a mall...

Posted by: ron at July 11, 2003 11:23 AM

Wow Ron. I didn' know Dawn of the Dead was the sequal to Night of the Living Dead. Oddly enough, I watch Night with my father when I was a little kid, and it's been a point of comedic reference for us quite often, bizarre to think that some 10 years later I watch the sequal without every knowing...

Gotta say. The mall concept was a very cool idea...and now I have to see the third one!
