Quick Jab at Ye Cynics

My distaste of the critics of Reloaded, Harry Potter, and many other "lesser" art forms is reaching the state at which could be called well documented. I found a quote today from some friends who sum up my feelings on the matter quite nicely.

"You've got to treasure this shit [new harry potter book]...don't slink home from the solar eclipse and be like, well, I've seen more invigorating natural phenomena."

Just enjoy stuff, man. It doesn't mean the genius of Shakespear or whoever is any less genius, it just might mean that "no, Walter, you're not wrong, you're just an asshole."

Sigh. I still like the quote.

Great, now everybody who knows it's from the PA crew will be like "oh, well, it's from him. It doesn't matter now." or some lame cop-out like that.

Did Ryan say Penny Arcade? He meant John Updike. There, all better now.

I love The Big Lebowski. What movie is more quotable? Well, I guess you can't quote it around just anybody (what with all the language), but it's still chock-full of great lines.

You like child who wanders into a darkened theater...you have no frame of reference!

Lady, I had buddies die face-down in the mud so that you and I could enjoy this family restaurant! I'm staying. I'm drinking my coffee.

"We may be bereaved but we're not saps!! Is there a Ralph's around here?"

This is going to be the longes blog entry ever now that it's become a Big Lebowski Quote-a-Thon.
The Coen boys are brilliant.

"Donny was a good bowler, and a good man. He was one of us. He was a man who loved the outdoors... and bowling, and as a surfer he explored the beaches of Southern California, from La Jolla to Lio Carria and... up to... Pizmo. He died, like so many young men of his generation, he died before his time. In your wisdom, Lord, you took him, as you took so many bright flowering young men at Quezon, at Langdok, at Hill 364. These young men gave their lives. And so would Donny. Donny, who loved bowling."

What a damn fine film. I'd forgotten how much I like it.

Walter: And so, Theodore Donald Karabotsos.. in accordance with what we think your dying wishes might well have been....we commit your final mortal remains to the bosom of the Pacific Ocean, which you loved so well. Goodnight, sweet prince.

Dude: What about that shit about Vietnam!

Walter: Dude, I'm sorry...

Dude: What the fuck does Vietnam have to do with anything! What the fuck were you talkinabout?!

Walter: Shit Dude, I'm sorry...
