Japan
I told people for years that Morris and the Japanese were real wierdos, and that living with Morris wasn't always a walk in the park. I now give you the proof.

Actually, Morris and I visited one of those shrines last spring. A little cottage in an open field at dusk. The doors were closed, but around back was a wooden phallus, about five and a half feet tall. Morris and I posed with. Later we found out there were hundreds of smaller statues, also of the male persuasion, inside the cottage. There was something about that place that gave me the willies, no pun intended. It just felt sort of, I dunno... evil.
All of this is a good reminder that I need to write my cross-cultural paper this week.
