Coupland is a close, personal friend of mine. (see URL for proof)
You are a better writer. Take off the bullet proof vest.

Man, how many of us are there in the random-noun school of naming? My favorite recently has been "Karoke mustard wrench."

I hope you get better soon too.

Was it your first time cutting your own hair? I've been cutting my own hair for the past year or two. I've grown to like doing it more and more. I think the key is to not use a mirror.

Why do you like the Coupland story?

I enjoyed an article you wrote about smoking in Ghetto Monk. I entirely agree. Nice blog, too. Some questions: Who is Coupland? Furthermore, do you think your position on cursing is equally defensible as was the smoking? That will be an interesting reply.

jason,

thanks for checking in. coupland's one of my favorite authors. if you're looking for a read, i recommend his book Life After God, one of my five favorite books. good question on cursing. i've given it a lot of thought, and while there are a lot of similarities, at this point in my thinking, with cursing and smoking, there are some big differences, since getting into biblical linguistics seems like a deeper hole. i hope to write a position paper on it sometime soon. the big question to be asked, i think, is what the purpose of verbal communication is--i.e. how do words function, and for what reason? any thoughts you want to send on?
