GSM Association sets 2012 target date for universal cellphone charger - Engadget
Just a couple of days after a top European Union commissioner mused about the need for a universal cellphone charger, the GSM Association has now come out and announced that it and 17 of its partner companies are indeed working on such a solution, and that they plan to have a common format in place by 2012.Posted by cmwillis at February 17, 2009 8:13 PM
Wow! Only 10 or 20 years after cell phones came out and these companies have figured out that they can all get electricity the same way!
Next in line is the different IM companies. If AOL, Yahoo, MSN, etc can all solve the Rubiks Cube of sending short, one sentence messages to each other, then we'll know that 21st century technology is really taking off.
Actually, I think I saw this somewhere on Obama's list of priorities. I'll go put a comment up on whitehouse.gov. That should probably take care of it.
